It has always been our distinct pleasure as Kenya Shipyards Limited to deliberately affirm ourselves as a catalyst of shipbuilding industry by actively engaging in construction, refit, maintenance, repairs and overhaul of maritime vessels and civil maritime works within the Eastern Africa region.

As a testament of our shared commitment to partnership with like-minded institutions, KSL honored the invitation by the Governor Kilifi County to attend and participate in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding during the Kilifi County International Investment Conference held at Vipingo Ridge from 4 to 6 Dec 24. Kilifi County is part of the Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani which is one of the six (6) economic blocs created to spur sustainable economic development.

The Kilifi International Investment Conference aims to advance investment opportunities that will benefit the business community and reflect the county’s shared commitment to the development of national goals.

The conference was graced by the President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E William Ruto PhD, who was accompanied by the Speaker of Senate, Hon Amason Kingi, Cabinet Secretaries including Hon Salim Mvurya of Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry and Hon Ali Hassan Joho, Ministry of Blue Economy and Mining Affairs.

In attendance was the host Governor, County Government of Kilifi, & Chair, Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani Hon. Gideon Mung’aro, Hon. Abdullswamad Sherrif Nassir, Governor Mombasa County, Hon Fatuma Mohamed Achani, Governor Kwale County, Principal Secretary Investments, Hon Abubakar Hassan Abubakar and Dr. Emmanuel Nzai CEO, Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani, & Chair, Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Board, among other esteemed leaders.

Led by the Managing Director, Maj Gen Said Farah, the President was given a guided tour of KSL’s exhibition booth and was able to appreciate the advancements made in the construction of fiber boats as well as introduction of specialized vessels for maritime security.

The President witnessed the signing of an MoU between KSL and Kilifi County Government which involves collaborating to mobilize financial resources for various projects within the Kilifi County Government’s mandate, to be executed by Kenya Shipyards Limited. These projects may include the construction, refit, overhaul repair and maintenance of maritime fishing and transport vessels, patrol boats, water ambulances, and civil and modular infrastructure works.

Moreover, KSL led by GM Commercial Services, Lt Col Gavin Kasyoka participated in a moderated session on sustaining the Blue Economy; Unlocking Kilifi’s Coastal Potential. Notable keynote speakers present included Amb. Nancy Karigithu, Kenya’s Special Envoy on Maritime and Blue Economy and the former Chairperson, International Maritime Organization and Dr. Stanley Chai, Secretary, Shipping and Logistics, Ocean and Blue Economy in the Executive Office of the President.

To spearhead homegrown solutions, KSL has never lost sight of its commitment to the vision. We continue to provide ships, artisanal crafts, ferries, barges, floating hotels, tug boats, patrol boats, search and rescue boats, water ambulances, pilot boats and special vessels like training and research vessels for several Blue Economy areas such as fisheries and aquaculture, maritime transport and shipping, extractive resources, marine renewable energy, marine tourism and maritime security.
